London New Year Fireworks

Happy New Year!

London Fireworks on New Year's Day 2011

Alexander would have loved to be there, especially since we hear a song clip of the band Queen, with his friend Freddie Mercury.

latter, it was possible that I am with Alexander. But I was in Montreal and Alexander, as I had suggested to him to do so, had stayed with her grandmother in the countryside. We were still in communication.

The old is dying ... Spirit of Christmas

... and it's not me who will miss her.

Year End

Under skies made of fiber and soot
Hence choit long and dreary rain, rot
Here
Windward persistent and monotonous
The golds of autumn
Here golds and purple die.

O you who shudder, softly voluntary
up there against the sky, along the way,
Sad leaves like hands,
You gisez, black on earth.

Time is running out to compose days
The south wind as a ranger, runs through the plains;
life full and sacred, with regrets deaf
Under a vague shadow of the tomb and dusk
How long at the bottom of the soil settles and moves back.

Say, do you mean come to the sound of tolling,
Coming from the depths of infinite there,
The old and sad fate?
one that throws the pile immensely
Centuries old, centuries tired
Like a bag of dead wood in the year.

Emile Verhaeren , a poem from the collection All Flanders.

Another year ends. At the end of this chapter, before turning the page, should I linger a bit about what brought me in 2010. The balance would be negative but if I did not really want to dwell.

I will not talk about my professional life, or my economic situation, whatever the situation, we do not die.

I'm more worried about my health but I expect to go a little better before going to see my doctor. I postponed to the end of January 2011 an appointment which had been set for December 29.

If year 2009 was very challenging, with the departure of the most extraordinary man I ever met, the disappearance of other friends, some of which are probably mounted join the Little Prince and other parties are simply without leaving an address or have melted into silence. 2010 has not been much different.

A dear friend recently saw his ancestral home on fire. Not only material losses are incalculable, the precious memories destroyed irreplaceable but fire and water have been disappearing in winter, shortly before Christmas, the place where one renovated his physical, emotional, moral. This new tragedy came destroy an important part of his life. It has lost its bearings, part of his identity, part of his soul. I can not say exactly what (it will be soon enough to find out), but part of me was also caught up in the flames.

a positive note precious friends remained very present, attentive and affectionate. Others were added, which should make more room in my life in 2011. I do

do not have a list of resolutions, I will write on paper my personal short list. The main one which includes all others, it will live further in accordance with the values shared with Alexander, in respect of all living and affection for people and for things.

I wish everyone a happy New Year's Eve, a good transition from the old to the new year, if possible, surrounded by loved ones. I hope that 2011

bring you health, happiness and sharing, curiosity and creativity, the ability to appreciate what's out there and realize your dreams the most expensive, and that affects the tenderness that comes to you, everything around you, including of course the animals whatsoever.

Party Invite Wording For A 3 Year Old

Photo: ALCIB

Each year, the same thing: I m can see it on the morning of December 24, we are on the eve of Christmas and I have done virtually nothing of what I promised myself to do before Christmas Eve with family. My psychoanalyst, if I had one, would surely an excellent reason for that ...
Yet I have not been idle: with the exception of the moments of fatigue when I only read or watch some movies and series of UK emissions, it seems to have been quite busy these last weeks . We must believe that on my list of activities, some of them concerned the preparation of Christmas. This could be explained, I believe, by the fact that I think more of Christmas celebrations which I would like to attend only those that I will know really ...

Friends are still very expensive and terribly tested for them this holiday not look anything like the celebrations they experienced in the past. "Do not think we're happy," someone wrote me a few days ago. I still no word of other people that I love. I will think of each other in wishing everyone a bit of calm, comfort and lots of love. I rejoice with those who are happy and I will be with all my heart with those for whom these moments of celebration are more difficult and painful.

I got some loyal readers beautiful and deeply moving personal messages to which I answer in the meantime my personal response, they are publicly acknowledged. A distant friend just call me. I am preparing to go join some members of my family ... Gradually, I go into the Christmas spirit.

This morning when I went to open the blinds of the room, I heard a noise at the window as if someone wanted to go (I live in an apartment on the sixth floor). Since the awning on this side was half closed, it took me a little while to see, perched on the edge of the window, two birds that I do not know and I've never seen from as close (it was neither of seagulls or pigeons or sparrows or tits). I stayed several minutes watch them groom themselves and bask in the sun. I want to believe they were carrying a message of peace and tenderness.

I wish everyone, each of you a very merry Christmas, under the sign of serenity, joy, love and sharing. That tenderness accompanies every thought, every word, every move you make.

Alexander had long endorsed this rule of life that can encompass all dimensions of life on earth, he himself was an excellent example: "Good thinking. Word. Good action. "

Paris - She joined his "dear Greeks, Thucydides, Herodotus, Aeschylus, Euripides and Sophocles. First woman professor at the College de France, Academy Jacqueline de Romilly had linked her life in ancient Greece, sharing its wonders for the treasures of its literature and the birth of big ideas. The great Hellenistic

All his life, the philologist had led a struggle for learning ancient languages and knowledge of words to Stop violence in society. In his view, the teaching of humanities gave the opportunity to "regain the momentum within the original simplicity and enlightenment."

His career is dotted with many books about the authors of the classical era (as Thucydides and tragic) or the history of ideas and their analysis in Greek thought, particularly the law and democracy, gentleness, psychology.

In 1995, she received Greek citizenship before being appointed six years later, Ambassador of Hellenism. "I much met Pericles Aeschylus and my contemporaries, "she confided to the magazine to read 91 years. They inhabit my life, I awoke to my bed. "

His career

Her studies lead her to Louis-le-Grand, the Ecole Normale Superieure d'Ulm and at the Sorbonne. And it is a "chance" - a summer reading - which has lead to work-on Thucydides, historian of the fifth century BC. "In dense sentences, laden with meaning, lofty, subtle, Thucydides thought for me, in front of me," she wrote in Why Greece? (1992).

Fellow of Letters (1936), Doctor of Letters (1947), the young woman, who married in 1940 Michel de Romilly Worms - she divorced - teaches some years in high school, then is forced to stop, the status of Jews applied in October 1940 prevented him from delivering the course. Several awards will be awarded him, including the Grand Prize of the French Academy (1984) and the Onassis prize for culture (Athens, 1995).

The cause of education

The general public will discover in 1984 on the occasion of his visit to the television show Apostrophes for his book entitled The Teaching in distress. A cry of alarm that it will continue to launch literary lessons based backup and Élan new citizens, two associations to "wake up the values of democracy" and "refocus the public debate."

In 2007, this woman of formidable energy had signed an appeal to presidential candidates denouncing the "educational disaster". "Not very optimistic," she hoped a start, if not, she warned, "we are heading towards a disaster and we are entering an era of barbarism."

Asked to reveal his secret of youth, Jacqueline de Romilly said inhabited by the "belief" and carried by the "force" it provides. But old age is a "terrible battle," "everything deteriorates, discards, ugh, terrible!", Launched the philologist became virtually blind.

The Hellenist, who "loved the story since it explains the literature" declared himself passionately in the Greek texts, by "meeting with the birth of rational thinking" and "burst of light" in "a world still confused and obscure."

In addition to his scholarly works, Jacqueline de Romilly had written books public, and a new novel opens in heart at age 75. In one of his last books, published in 2008, innumerable Smile - a storage facility for Laughs "- she spoke of her mother fondly. A further book of ancient Greece, but whose very title recalled the power of the ties that bound him to its authors. At its source, a verse of Aeschylus: "The smile of the innumerable waves of the sea."

Tributes

President Nicolas Sarkozy hailed his memory, saying it goes with "a great humanist, whose speech will be missed."

"Jacqueline de Romilly has contributed much to building intellectual young generation, education of the general public through his many books, only the liberation of women through the example she gave of her own elevation, "he says in a statement.

Minister of Culture, Frederic Mitterrand, paid tribute to "one of very great minds of our time. "

"Greece is in mourning today, said the Greek Ministry of Culture said in a statement. In difficult times for the country, whose reputation is often put to the test, his voice and his work was crucial to emphasize Greek culture [...], our country has rarely had such allies. "

"It's a loss for our country", said on France Info, historian Helene Carrere d'Encausse, finding that the best tribute to him "would attach more importance now to the Greek language , it was the largest advocate in our country. "

"It was the conquest of many people because it was extremely simple, but at the same time she was quite firm in his manner," wrote Bernard Fallois. She disarmed by his kind of natural authority. It was this combination of simplicity, seriousness and gaiety of the great teachers, "he added.

Douglas and Friends ... The horse

Returning home after the performance to which he belonged in a theater in London, 12 December 2009, Alistair Douglas found his friend unconscious. The young bulldog had just turned one!

Alistair adored his young friend, who was a cousin or nephew of Alexander Bull. Seeing the dog, Alexander, to the British Museum where Alexander had given her appointment, Alistair had immediately wanted to adopt a bulldog and it was important to him that it comes from the same breeder as the friend of Alexander.

After accidentally discovered the existence of this blog and acknowledging in words that speak of Alexander the wonderful boy he knew as a teenager while both were attending the same college, Alistair wrote the first comment last fall. I asked him to write me privately and we talked for two months almost daily correspondence. He wept as the start of the Little Prince. I recognized a friend in Alistair worthy of Alexander. I put him in touch with the best friend of Alexander who went to London to meet on two occasions, this charming young man who was almost the youngest brother of our Little Prince.

Like him, he and loved reading about all who loved Alexander. Although he looks frail, Alistair loved excursions into the most distant countries in the less frequented of the World, where he brought great pictures.

Last fall, he sent me many photos of his friend Douglas whom he was so proud, so happy. The dog was beautiful, so touching, and photos taken at different times, were truly magnificent. I like the picture I put at the top of this post, found on the Internet, but the pictures made by Alistair, I have printed in large format, are absolutely incomparable.

The last message I received from Alistair goes back to December 10, 2009. I was worried about not receiving anything from him because he wrote me almost every day. On December 27, 2009, I learned that Douglas had died on December 12 and shortly after Alistair had a terrible accident and that two weeks ago Alistair was in intensive care in a London hospital. Jane immediately went to London to see Alistair but it was not his official family, the hospital would not let her see Alistair nor give him. All they have agreed to do is deliver the letter Jane has written before leaving the hospital. A few days later, we learned from colleagues that his family had come for Alistair. Since we are not new, as we know his family name and we do not have contact information, there is no way to contact her.

The Bulldogs have a weak respiratory system. If they are comfortable in the cold and they love playing in the snow, they can not stand the heat at all (last summer, visiting Paris, Alexander Bull had to spend three days under observation in clinic because of the heat). They can make sleep apnea. That probably won Douglas: he slept until his friend and he simply did not wake up ...

Every day, I still think of Douglas. It would be impossible to forget: great pictures of him around my desk and I always wear one of them on me.

I also think Alistair course. The image of a beautiful boy who accompanies him like he sent me pictures of his friend Douglas. I am not resigned to his silence and do not hear from him. I hope he will write itself soon ... If by chance someone knew ...

Life is sometimes difficult. But what is most intolerable is the absence, silence and anxiety for those whom we love. I think of Alexander, I think Alistair, I think of Alexander the Welsh ... I think obviously it to Jane who just arrived a terrible disaster (as if she needed a new event!) And the consequences will be felt in the months ahead and, anyway, things do will be like before ...

Bloon Tower Defence Not Blocekd

Little Prince Love

"To educate a young prince, attendance at horse
is what is best, because a horse does not flatter. "
Plutarch (c. 50 - c. 125)

" Do not give money to your children, give them a horse. "
Winston Churchill (1874-1965)

Here are two quotes that Alexander would not hesitate to take over. If he did not "need" a horse for his education, Alexander would not be separated for the shortest time possible. Horses were his friends from his early childhood and they remained loyal. A few months before his departure, he played polo (and he wanted his team wins the game because he played for his ALCIB). And when he won, he gave full credit to the horse. After the game, he said, are the horses that were praised and rewarded.

Among her gifts last Christmas, there was a beautiful colt just three months, which was given the name "Montreal". This colt is now a beautiful thoroughbred who will never know how special friend he had.

Can Shaving Cause Herpes If You Have It

doctor

In late afternoon I was returning from a race in the district when I saw a few meters in front of me, a small crowd of people who seemed upset. Looking more closely, I saw two or three people leaning over a young man lying on the floor. In arriving at their height, I saw the young man's face covered with blood (actually, we only saw the blood). I did not stop. I am told that among the dozen people who were there, there was Surely someone who had called the emergency services. I continued my journey, upset, trying to understand what had happened. What seems most probable is that this young man who was returning home with his bag of groceries had probably made a wrong move, slipped on the curb and broke his face on the pavement or on the edge of the sidewalk ...

While walking, I could not help thinking that Alexander was doctor. If he had come there, he stopped to administer first aid to the young man who was perhaps expected to prepare the evening meal ... I could not forget the bloody face of this young man ... I thought back to long hours of work of Alexander who, at the emergency room saw happen every day so many people who suffered or whose life was threatened ...

I remember one night when we were talking on MSN, Harry and Alexander Siamese bulldog sleeping peacefully beside him. In the silence of the night, Alexander thought he heard a shot near his home. Even if he was tired, sick himself, his first instinct was to think he was a doctor and that there might be someone in the street seriously injured ... I managed to dissuade him to get dressed and go out into the cold night without knowing if he could be really useful.

I put my groceries home and I'm left to walk to Mount Royal. The images were still running through my head, emotions jostled ... I thought the most adorable young doctors worried that if I was not feeling well and whose love made me forget all my troubles. I felt rising in me the same anxiety that accompanied my walks when Alexander, a hospital bed, fighting himself a high fever for days that did not decrease and, on this side of the Atlantic, I expected new give me that "Dr. Jane" as soon as she could let her hand for a moment ...

It's official: this is exactly five months, April 29, 2011, that Prince William married his girlfriend of several years, Kate Middleton. The British Royal Family has confirmed last week that the wedding date and venue of the ceremony.

While his parents, Prince Charles and Lady Di were married at St. Paul's Cathedral in 1981, Prince William, second in the order of succession to the throne of England, chose instead the Westminster Abbey.

Knowing that Alexander was close to Westminster Abbey, I remember that early in our conversations, in spring 2008, I mentioned that I knew it was the most famous church in London and that very many ceremonies, often grandiose, had been held over the centuries. Alexander had said that unfortunately there had been there, too, the saddest, most heart-wrenching ceremonies in the world. I did not ask for clarification, but I guessed what he had in mind.

Alexander was proud of being born in England: he loved his culture, its traditions, its institutions ... I'm sorry he could not see the possible coronation of Prince Charles. It would have been happy to witness the marriage of Prince William, born just two months after him.

For her engagement, Kate William offered the engagement ring worn by her mother. It's a beautiful ring!

At this time of economic gloom and politics, marriage will come a little dream come feed the imagination of the British, cementing the affection for the royal family, closer ties between the British, some stimulate the economy, etc..

avid admirer of Lady Di, she draws in her outfits, especially, Kate Middleton will inspire both young girls. Already, you can order a copy of her dress Engagement ...

Chester Zoo, Great Britain, took advantage of the betrothal of William and Kate to present his new royal couple bird: it is royal or Spéos royal starling. They were bottle fed. They are from Kenya, where Prince William has asked Kate Middleton to marry him. If you think you gave this pair of birds, become famous, the name of Kate and William ... you are right.

nature of human beings

New question: Are we human beings living a spiritual experience or spiritual beings having a human experience? Unless it is both at once?

Quoting Teilhard de Chardin
the question box

Beautiful issue. It remains to say what is the problem - and challenge what is behind.

A - If we are spiritual beings and humans incidentally (because I would assume spiritual even if you do not live this "human experience"), then the issue is whether it is a chance or misfortune to live this humanity.

Two examples:

- The myth of the Phaedrus (Plato): souls were endowed with wings, not their body flying in the sky until they commit mistakes that have precipitated on earth. There they are "fallen" in the body, and they thus remain, trapped and deprived of wings, in what we would call on us' human experience. It is a misfortune.

- Jesus Christ, God became man to redeem the sins of mankind. Here, a pure spirituality has chosen the human destiny. Like Jesus we are on earth - with our destiny of man - to our salvation.

-> The issue is the price to pay if we accept that we are spiritual beings that it accrues to live a human experience. And that price, as shown by our two examples is the dualism: we are primarily a soul - and then we are a soul incarnated (according to Genesis, in creation God has modeled a statue of clay (body) and he has breathed life (divine soul).

B - If we are spiritual beings and incidentally, while we are animals, among others, we can well do without this soul and this "spirit" without ceasing to be men. It the idea that boosted the creationists when they realized that this was the message of Darwin.

All time: we are told: " spiritual experience, which is consistent with something like a future. So does one speak of an evolution of humanity outside the process of man would have led mankind on the path of civilization. This is the Hegelian conception of history - but this is also the source of the pessimism of Rousseau: Man is a spiritual being? Yes, but " man who meditates is a depraved animal " ...

As we can see the price here is the responsibility of evil. And not by some unknown myth more or less credible (which I think is the original sin) by the daily decision to be more not a man but a man least (Merleau-Ponty).

My first award: the bulldog

No, it's not Alexander Bull himself, but a distant cousin who lives in the United States.

I would not be a good judge in the contest, but in my heart, the bulldog will always win first place and he will always have a hug ... at least.

Lapsus, a monthly useless and that's what is

Lapsus, the monthly publication, is absurd, it no use: no info, no article of reflection, no cultural aim, no services. Nothing. As its editor Pauline Barzilai, a student at the ESAD , it loses time every month to make for readers who will lose theirs to read. Yet he is brilliant, full of humor and derision. On the principle of diversion, texts and folding pages written and give a new meaning to the images. Mouth, Dar, Pute , erotic text created from Bouvard and Pecuchet is a marvel of finesse and winks.
At any lord, all honor the principle of the newspaper is also hijacked with his articles, his topics, his editorial, his ads: "Dear Titi73 when I say" ugly ", I 'm wrong, I thought "ugly". " T hierry I am married is nothing possible between us, please fill in the hotel as usual to speak of. "

Catherine, Alexander and other

There are still people among the younger, who recalled that on November 25, many people the generation of their parents celebrated St. Catherine, who was said she was the patron saints of "old maids". The "Catherinettes" were young girls who had reached the venerable age of ... Twenty-five years.

In fact, they are more sacred to bear the name of Catherine. But the most famous is Catherine of Alexandria, celebrated Nov. 25, patron saint of barbers, wheelwrights, rope makers, clothiers, schoolchildren and students, wool spinners, genealogists, millers, lawyers, nurses, orators, philosophers, plumbers, potters , preachers, grinders, cutters, theologians, turners and ... girls to marry, according to Wikipedia.
